From AI and automation to inventory, storage, payments, and more, here is what we've released so far in 2026 and how SmartMoving is helping movers run more of their business in one connected platform.

21releases 118+improvements shipped 29+new features

What did SmartMoving add in 2026?

2026 has been a big year for SmartMoving and the movers we build for. So far this year, we’ve delivered 21 product releases, 29+ new features, and 118+ improvements across SmartMoving, all focused on helping movers sell, schedule, dispatch, complete, and get paid for moves faster and with less manual work.

Many of those updates started with movers: ideas posted and voted up on our feature board, feedback from customers testing new features in beta, and conversations with Customer Success. We build SmartMoving with movers, not just for them, and this year is what that looks like.

From AI and automation to sales, dispatch, inventory, storage, and payments, here are some of the most impactful updates we delivered this year.

SmartMoving's Biggest 2026 Updates

TOB-E: AI Operations Assistant for Movers

Our AI Operations Assistant, TOB-E, became available to all customers in July as part of their subscription, bringing the power of AI directly into the platform thousands of movers use to run their day-to-day operations.

TOB-E helps your team stay ahead of what needs attention and helps get the work done. It can identify unconfirmed crews, unpublished jobs, outstanding payments, and follow-ups that still need to happen. From there, TOB-E can send crew confirmations, publish the day, and send customer confirmations, while keeping your team in control by showing you what it is about to do before you approve the action.

We also introduced the TOB-E Morning Briefing, a daily email that brings the things needing attention that day directly to your inbox, including unconfirmed jobs, unpaid balances, and open follow-ups.

In September, we expanded TOB-E with Smart Dispatch, helping movers dispatch jobs faster and smarter using real dispatch strategies, all with the click of a button.

Sales & Dispatch Updates That Keep Jobs Moving

Sometimes the biggest difference comes from removing the small manual steps your team repeats every day.

  • Customer Confirmations. Send a confirmation text or email directly from Dispatch in one click. When the customer responds, the confirmation status updates automatically, giving your team a clearer picture of what is confirmed without having to track it separately.
  • Dispatch Slot Holds. Reserve truck and crew capacity for a move date before the customer officially books. When they book, the hold converts automatically, helping you protect availability while the customer makes their decision.
  • Move Date TBD. When the customer does not have a move date yet, create the opportunity with the move date marked TBD so the lead can be captured and worked the same day. Add the date when the customer knows it.
  • Estimated Profitability. See projected margin on an estimate, including materials, truck, and fuel, before it ever goes to the customer. It is more information at a time when your team can actually do something with it.

Descriptive Inventory: A Better Record of Every Item You Move

Descriptive Inventory became generally available in February, giving movers item-by-item digital inventory directly in the Crew App. Your crews can document condition with damage, photos, and notes. They can even use voice when that is faster in the field. When enabled, your team can require a photo whenever damage is recorded, helping make sure the documentation is there when you need it.

Items can be checked at pickup, in the warehouse, and again at the destination against the same inventory record, creating a clearer history throughout the move instead of relying on documentation from a single point in time.

In March, we added barcode and QR code scanning. Print labels on sheets or rolls, tag each item, and check it off during an inventory check instead of searching the list by hand.

In August, we made signing easier too. Instead of signing page after page, customers sign once and the complete inventory becomes a dated PDF on the job.

Better documentation in the field means your team has better information when questions or claims come up later.

Storage Inventory: Know What Is in Storage and Where to Find It

In August, we released Storage Inventory Scanning, giving your team a better way to track inventory as it moves through your warehouse.

Crews can scan items in and out of storage, and the status automatically moves between in storage, in transit, and released. Items can be assigned to containers and rack locations, so your team can find what they need without relying on handwritten notes, memory, or separate spreadsheets.

Your storage customers get better visibility, too. Through the customer portal, shippers, designers, and other customers can see their inventory and photos and request exactly what they need to pick up or get delivered, without creating another account or remembering another password. No more calling your warehouse while both sides dig through spreadsheets trying to figure out which items need to move.

Your team knows what is in storage and where to find it. Your customers can see what belongs to them and request what they need without having to call your office.

Military Moving Software and 400NG Support

This year, we expanded support for military tariffs and the 400NG so your team can price linehaul, storage-in-transit, and accessorials correctly.

Carrier commissions are automatically calculated and added directly to the invoice. Required forms are generated, stored, and printed from the job, so your team is not recreating paperwork or digging through email to find it.

Crews can capture descriptive inventory directly in the job to help protect both the service member and the carrier. During peak military season, dispatch can see scheduled shipments, required documents, and job status in one place.

We also incorporated security practices aligned with CMMC Level 1 guidance for safeguarding Federal Contract Information, and we are working toward CMMC Level 2 requirements for protecting Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI).

Your team can take on more military moves without taking on more paperwork.

Workflow Automation for Follow-Ups

In September, Workflow Automations took a big step forward with the ability to automatically send emails and text messages.

A workflow can start when something happens, like an estimate being signed, and take the next steps your team has defined. Instead of simply reminding someone to follow up, SmartMoving can send the next message using your templates and record it in the opportunity activity feed. Your team decides which actions should happen automatically and which ones should stay human.

We also rebuilt the rule builder to make creating and managing those automations easier.

The goal is not more reminders. It is fewer repetitive tasks your team has to remember in the first place.

Move Coordination from Booking to Move Day

Booking the move is only the beginning. There is still plenty that has to happen between booked and move day.

Move Coordination gives your team task templates based on move type, with tasks scheduled around the service date and automatically adjusted when that date changes. A dedicated Moving Coordinator role gives you clear ownership of that work.

Instead of managing post-booking work through a separate spreadsheet or relying on someone to remember the next step, tasks can be created and assigned automatically so your team has a clearer process from booking through move day.

Payment Updates for Your Office, Customers, and Crews

We continued improving the payment experience throughout 2026, including changes that solve practical move-day problems.

  • Pre-Authorization. Verify a customer's card and funds before the job instead of discovering a declined card when it is time to collect payment.
  • Crew Tipping. Customers can add a tip when paying an online invoice by card or E-Check, giving crews an easier way to receive tips without creating another process for your office to manage.
  • E-Check and Debit Improvements. Control E-Check by service type. When an E-Check fails, the customer can receive a link to resubmit payment instead of the failed payment quietly sitting there. Choosing debit can remove the card fee, and we continued improving pre-authorization in September to better match the way movers operate.

Updates That Make Everyday Work Easier

Some of the most useful releases this year were also the smallest. These came straight from movers, including many of the most-requested ideas on our feature board.

  • Personal email and text signatures. Each user can now have a personal signature on emails and text messages, including messages sent from sales templates.
  • Incoming message notifications. Admin and office staff can be notified of every email and text a customer sends, not only the salesperson assigned to the job.
  • Note templates with tokens. Save templates for job notes with tokens that pull in the job details, so your team is not typing the same notes on every move.
  • Daily dispatch calendar notepad. Leave a note for the day right on the schedule, where your dispatchers will actually see it.
  • Assigned crew in the job calendar list. See who is on each job straight from the list, without opening every job to check.
  • Attachments and drafts in email. Attach PDFs and other files to emails, including sales replies, and save a draft to finish later.
  • Two-way Microsoft 365 calendar sync. Keep schedules aligned between SmartMoving and the calendars your team already uses.
  • Claims Portal. Customers can now file a claim from the Customer Portal, add photos, and check its status without calling your office. Claim acknowledgment emails link straight to the portal, and in September we brought claims to the Commercial Customer Portal too.
  • Background Check Tracking. Record background checks for office users and crew, set recheck dates, and see it all in the Employee Information Report, so you know who is due without digging through files.

Together, these updates make SmartMoving work better across more of your business.

Go Further with Smart Solutions

We did not stop with the main SmartMoving platform. We also continued investing in Smart Solutions, optional paid add-ons that give movers more ways to strengthen their reputation, marketing, customer experience, data, and integrations.

  • Smart Reputation

Turn the five-star service your crews deliver into a stronger online reputation. This year, we added AI auto-replies that respond to new reviews for you, writing each reply from what the customer actually wrote, the rating they gave, and the platform, in the voice and tone you set. We also added an enhanced dashboard that brings what needs attention to the top, a weekly report with reviews, local rankings, social activity, and trends, and history and trends on the reputation map.

  • Smart Marketing

Stay in front of leads and customers with automated marketing built into SmartMoving. This year, we added email drip campaigns with up to 10 scheduled steps, the ability to import HTML emails as editable templates, and the option to edit campaigns already in progress. New audience filters, like last move date and estimate sent date, help you reach the right people, and campaigns now flag broken links and merge tags before they go out.

  • Smart Scout

Give movers another way to capture the information they need from customers before the move. Smart Scout answers incoming calls around the clock, creates or updates the lead in SmartMoving, attaches the call recording, and sets a follow-up for the assigned salesperson, so no after-hours call slips through.

  • Smart Insights

Get deeper visibility into your business and the data behind it. This year, we added custom fields as report columns, a dedicated table for tracking sales follow-ups, and a new Employees and Crew Members report with details like crew arrival time and job acceptance time. You can now duplicate any report you have built and share reports with team members who only need to see what is shared with them.

  • Premium API

Connect SmartMoving with more of the technology your team uses. This year, we continued investing in the API with published webhooks and a public changelog, making it easier for developers to see what is available and what has changed. We also added real-time follow-up webhooks, webhook call history, low-usage alerts, and self-serve API key rotation.

And We Are Not Done

There is still more ahead for SmartMoving.

We are continuing to build around the way movers actually work, with more ways to manage different types of work, reduce manual processes, give your teams better visibility, and create a better experience for your customers.

Some of what is coming next will expand what you can do in SmartMoving. Some will make the tools you already use even better. And, as always, we will keep building alongside movers to solve the real operational challenges your teams face every day.

So keep telling us what would make your day easier. Many of this year's releases started as one mover's idea on the feature board, and the next ones will too.
